I was sitting at my desk when all of a sudden I was visited by a very strange guest.

This cat appeared, attacked its self in the mirror, rolled on the carpet, turned around made a very large “MEOW” at me and promptly left.

I managed to take a quick snap of it mid fight.

Funny thing about it is that i think it only has 3 legs and 1/2 a tail. Well wishing you well and visit whenever you like my furry friend.

We have in stock a small amount of synthetic braiding hair for all of you interested in this type of hair. It is Jumbo braiding hair so would not be suitable for any sort of silky fall styles. This hair is used primarily in cornrowing and braid hairstyles, Though I have gotten it in after a couple of requests from people wanting to make their own dread Extensions and falls.

Because the main reason behind getting this hair is for the more alternative hair wearer, the colours are anything but ordinary. This type of hair is very hard to come across in Australia because many places dont stock braiding hair (except of course the African shops) and next to none stock it in such colours.

The price for the hair is a flat $7.50 per bag.

This is always an issue for people when they are wanting any sort of hair service. This is especially true for those considering hair extensions.

I have lost count of the amount of people who ask to have a quote of how much their hair extensions will cost via email, SMS and over the phone. Even though I have never seen them before and do not know what it is they are after.

I do understand the reason why people are reluctant to come in for a consultation as there is a culture of the “hard sell” within this industry and it can also be uncomfortable if you are not completely sold on the idea of getting hair extensions (ie, going to a consultation but already not sure if you will go ahead with the service and not wanting to waste the hairdressers time)

These are legitimate reasons and so should be taken into account before deciding on an establishment you wish to approach. You should not at any time be made to feel as though you “have to” buy or go through with anything you have not already set your mind to. If you get the feeling at any time that this is happening make it clear you will contact them to confirm and this will allow you time to make your own decision on what to do without the pressure. Be sure not to wait too long in getting back to them (say 2-3 days maximum) as they will have to schedule time for you to come in.

Having said this though, A face to face consultation is always necessary, especially when having hair extensions installed. It is necessary for the following reasons

1) Many people grossly underestimate the amount of hair they need. Mainly because they are unable to understand that the hair must also blend in with their own hair for the overall look to be realistic.

2) The hairstyle that a person is wanting to achieve will greatly change the amount of extensions, as well as placement, a face to face consultation is required as this will greatly alter the time and scope of the service.

3) A colour and texture match is needed. Some salons may only Carry a few base shades and will colour the extensions from these base shades to match your own colour. this service will have an extra cost attached to it and will again depend on how many extensions they will be colouring for you. As with the colour matching, some may perform chemical reformation to the hair to get a closer match in texture to your own hair. These tasks cannot be done if you are not there to be of reference.

4) Just because your friend was able to get awesome looking long hair with 70 extensions does not mean you will as well. If your friend has shoulder length fine hair with longer layers and you have thick hair in a bob this will greatly change the amount of extensions you need. likewise, you may not need 150 extensions if you have fine hair and a smaller head.

5) It is always very important to make time for a consultation so that you can be made aware of all of the care and maintenance which comes with having extensions. being able to talk with a skilled person in this field will give you the chance to hear what they have to say about you being suitable for such a service. Some people are not suitable no matter how much they wish they were.

These are just a few reasons why it is necessary to make time for a consultation on hair extensions. Many places will be more than happy to consult for free so you are not losing anything but a bit of your time. Hair salons will be reluctant to give quotes without consultation as the person may need alot more/ less done to acheive the look they are after.
